The order follows the number of each seller's plates that appear in our price check.

All-in: VAT and the DVLA assignment fee of £80 are already in the listed price. With + VAT + £80, neither charge is included, so we add VAT of 20% and the £80 fee before we compare. In the cheapest column, we count the plates that this seller lists and another seller also lists, where this seller's all-in price is the lowest.
Plates in our check decide the order of this list. Each plate page lists sellers by all-in price, with the cheapest at the top. Buying through a link may earn us a fee, and that never changes either order. Regtransfers is not part of our price check. See Regtransfers feedback for details.
Each dealer's price: what it covers
Not every dealer shows prices in the same way. Prices from GetReg, or from DVLA Personalised Registrations, already include VAT and the £80 assignment fee DVLA charges. National Numbers, NewReg, SwiftReg, Plates4Less, Right Reg, Yellowhite, Western Registrations and GoReg show the plate price before VAT and then add the £80 fee. A plate may seem cheaper on one site, yet the total can be higher once you reach checkout.
Some private sellers offer plates with less than 20% VAT through dealers, which can put the true total a little below the standard all-in figure. You can often skip physical plates and transfer services as extras, so look in the basket before you pay.
Finance
There is no finance from DVLA: you pay in full. Some dealers do offer it. National Numbers has several plans, including Payl8r, Klarna and Buyline. With Plates4Less, finance runs from £150 to £3,500. For selected plates, NewReg offers 0% APR through V12 Retail Finance. If you miss a payment, spreading the cost adds risk, so read private plate finance first.
How dealers are ranked
For every plate, we use the all-in price to rank it, cheapest first: the plate price plus VAT plus the £80 fee. Buying through a link may earn us a fee, but it does not affect the order. See our price checking method and commission disclosure.
