Complaints and corrections

Email contact@privateplatecompare.co.uk if something on privateplatecompare.co.uk is not right, whether it is a wrong price or a broken link, or another problem, so we will look into it.

Issues you can report

  • A price that is wrong. Either the all-in price we show differs from the seller's page, or the VAT looks wrong, or the £80 DVLA assignment fee does.
  • A plate that has disappeared. The listing for that plate is gone from the seller's site, or the plate has sold.
  • A link that does not work. A link sends you to the wrong page or an error page. It can also take you to the wrong seller.
  • Something wrong in a guide. Something in a rule, a fee or a dealer fact is wrong or unclear.
  • Something else. Or a privacy question, an accessibility problem, or a ranking which disagrees with our commission disclosure.

Include the page address. If you can, also include the registration and the seller involved. It makes our checks faster.

The steps we take next

We read every message that arrives. When the problem is a price, a plate or a link, we look at the seller's own page. Any figure we show that is wrong, or a plate no longer listed, gets corrected or removed at the next price check. As our editorial policy sets out, for a guide we compare the fact with GOV.UK or with the dealer's own pages, then correct or remove it.

We reply to tell you what we found and what we changed.

Dealer disputes

Since we do not sell plates ourselves, orders, refunds, transfers and delivery are not things we can deal with. Contact the dealer you bought it from through their own complaints process if you have a problem with the plate you bought. It helps keep the site accurate, so we are glad to hear about it too.

Requests to take content down

If you believe the site uses content, a trade mark or other rights of yours without permission, email contact@privateplatecompare.co.uk. Include the page address, plus what you own and what you would like changed. We will review the request, and where that is justified we will remove or change the content.
