Number Plate Maker
The Number Plate Maker previews a registration on a UK front plate and rear plate, letting you check the look before buying.
What the Number Plate Maker draws
Enter up to seven letters and numbers. The number plate generator then draws two plates for you: black characters against white for the front one, and black characters against yellow for the rear one. Save the picture so you can share it or put two ideas side by side to compare them. No plate you can fit comes out of it, only a picture of how one looks.
Having real plates made
Only a registered number plate supplier can make plates for the road. The supplier will ask you for proof of your name and address, plus proof that you are entitled to the registration. Examples include the car's V5C document and a V750 certificate.
Every real plate has to comply with the GOV.UK display rules. You cannot change the spacing, and the characters cannot be altered to spell something. Plates shown wrongly can lead to a fine of up to £1,000 plus an MOT fail. Before you order, check the rules for private plates, then use the number plate search to find the price of a plate.
