A nickname, a first name and a way to say the letter J: JAY suits all three, and that is why it is popular. Jay private plates at the cheapest prices end in JAY, which follows a current-style identifier, for example AD58 JAY. Prefix plates, such as A63 JAY, seem a little shorter.
Dateless versions carry no year, so they cost more: 18 JAY, 32 JAY and 111 JAY are examples. On a J4Y style plate, the letter A is replaced by a 4. You must still show it exactly as issued, without changing the spacing.
